Overview

Iceland is a land of extraordinary contrasts — where glaciers meet active volcanoes, and geysers erupt beside tranquil hot springs. The Golden Circle route showcases Þingvellir National Park, the Geysir geothermal area, and the thundering Gullfoss waterfall. Drive the Ring Road to discover remote fjords, black sand beaches at Vik, and the stunning Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. Reykjavik, the world's northernmost capital, offers vibrant culture, innovative cuisine, and a thriving arts scene.

When to Visit

Iceland offers dramatically different experiences depending on the season:

Summer (June – August)

Midnight sun provides nearly 24 hours of daylight. Ideal for the Ring Road, highland treks, whale watching, and puffin spotting. Roads and hiking trails are fully accessible.

Winter (September – March)

The best time for Northern Lights viewing, ice cave exploration, and glacier hikes. Shorter days create magical blue-hour lighting, and geothermal pools offer cozy warmth against the cold.

Special Events and Festivals

  • Þorrablót (January/February) – traditional midwinter feast with Viking-era food
  • Reykjavik Arts Festival (June) – international performing arts showcase
  • Secret Solstice (June) – music festival under the midnight sun
  • Iceland Airwaves (November) – world-famous music festival in Reykjavik

Currency

The currency is the Icelandic Króna (ISK). Card payments are accepted everywhere, even in the most remote locations. Cash is rarely needed.
